The bukele phenomenon began in 2012 as mayor of Nuevo Cusclatlan El Salvador and then in 2015 he was mayor of the Salvadoran capital where he achieved important changes and won the sympathy of the vast majority of the Salvadoran population.

In 2019 he becomes the 43rd president of El Salvador, breaking with a long Salvadoran political tradition and beginning a new way of governing and with well-established plans for the betterment of El Salvador.
